A glorious Sunday morning saw the dynamic Boyne quartet take on the gruelling 26.2 mile distance alongside almost 9,000 competitors.

Taking in the sights of the iconic Old Trafford Stadium amongst others, the route wound through the streets and outlying suburbs of Manchester, with spectators and entertainment in abundance at every turn.

Andrew Coyle was delighted with his new pb of 4.06, knocking almost 15 minutes off his previous best time, while Ryan Holcroft crossed the line in 5.20.

Meanwhile, back on the island, Amy McTeggart once again proved her dominance as the foremost multi-eventer on the national circuit as she scooped yet another win, this time in the Universities Athletic Association Championships held in Cork on Saturday last, and also added a win in the individual high jump event to her medal haul on the day.

Getting a little closer to home, the ever popular Patsy Kelly 5k took place in Dundalk on Saturday evening last.
