‘Ladies from three coun­ties reached the fi­nal of the Car­ni­val Queen com­pe­ti­tion held in con­junc­tion with the re­cent car­ni­val in aid of St. Peter’s Parochial Build­ing Fund, Drogheda. The win­ner was Miss Rose Mur­ray, Beech­grove Lodge, Drogheda, who was “crowned” by Mrs. Fred Hoey, Lay­town, and who re­ceived the cup from Miss Molly O’Kane. Fair St., Drogheda. Miss Pat. Dug­gan, of Red Is­land, Sk­er­ries, was sec­ond while Miss Doreen Owens, Duleek, was third.
