Drogheda Independent - - NEWS -

THE Dominican community will host a special Mass of Remembrance - for those who have passed away and their families - on Sunday November 26th at noon in the Dominican Church .

The mass was held for the first time last year and it will conclude with a special ‘ hands across the Boyne’ event jist after mass.

People will be invited to toss flowers in the Boyne to mark the boundary between the former two towns, brought together by a Dominican priest.

‘Drogheda in Meath’ and ‘Drogheda in Oriel’ were united in 1412 after a plea by Fr Bennett who was disillusioned with the fighting between the two sides of the town.

‘ The event is symbolic of how the tide of time has brought us together and we found the laying of flowers into the Boyne as very touching last year,’ Fr Jim Donleavy stated.

‘Everyone is invited to come along and be part of the occasion.’
