Gar­daí in­ves­ti­gate phone charger row as­sault on shop­keeper

GAR­DAI are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a shock­ing and bru­tal at­tack on a lo­cal shop­keeper on Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 17th.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened at around 1.35pm at a premises in Wil­liam Street in Ardee.

A man en­tered the shop look­ing for an iphone charger.

He sub­se­quently started an ar­gu­ment over the cost of the charger and lunged at the shop­keeper, punch­ing him and knock­ing him to the ground.

An­other cus­tomer en­tered the shop and shouted at the cul­prit who then fled the premises in the di­rec­tion of John Street.

The man in­volved in the at­tack was car­ry­ing a bot­tle of Lip­tons tea and what looked like a food roll wrapped up.

Any­one with any in­for­ma­tion on what gar­daí have de­scribed as ‘a nasty in­ci­dent’ is asked to con­tact Ardee Garda Sta­tion on (041) 6853222.

Mean­while, a sub­stan­tial amount of dam­age was caused to a family home in Ro­se­vale af­ter an at­tempted break-in at the house on Tues­day, Jan­uary 23rd.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened some­time between midday and 1.3pm.

The cul­prits didn’t gain en­try to the house but at­tempted to force both the front door of the prop­erty and one of the win­dow frames, caus­ing €500 worth of dam­age.
