Progress on new Donacarney footpath

Drogheda Independent - - NEWS -

LOCAL Fine Gael Councillor, Sharon Tolan, has expressed relief that the much needed footpath from Bettystown to Donacarney is progressing.

“Following my continued representation in relation to this footpath, I have now been informed that tender documents have now been completed, and Meath County Council have gone to tender for the consultants for the design of the footpath/carriageway upgrade/farmers underpass, that will run from Bettystown Cross to Donacarney Primary Schools.

‘There is not a week that goes by without concerned parents contacting me, or drivers mentioning the dangers of pedestrians and cyclists along this route. It is crucial that this footpath is delivered as a matter of urgency to ensure that children can get to school in Donacarney safely, and residents of Donacarney can access Bettystown by foot or bicycle safely also.

‘ This is a step closer to delivering another critical piece of infrastructure for East Meath and I will continue to work with the Engineers in the Council to ensure this project progresses as swiftly as possible.” commented Tolan.
