-

LOCAL East Meath Fianna Fail Councillor Stephen McKee has confirmed that St Mary’s GFC Donore are to receive close to €20,000 in additional funding from Meath County Council under the ‘ Town & Village Renewal Scheme.’

The club was recently informed they would receive funding of over €77,000 under the scheme to help finish the extensive work that has been undertaken recently. After lobbying, he says he is pleased to announce that the council have committed to providing an additional 20% of that amount meaning the full funding award will be €97,000 euro.

‘ This is great news for St Mary’s and the Club will use the funding to fit out their new modern community centre for the use of the whole community,” he said.

‘I would like to play tribute to the tremendous work being done at St Mary’s GFC and to say a huge well done. The new recently completed dressing rooms are on a par with the best anywhere in the County and the community centre, when complete, will be a fantastic facility for the whole community to enjoy.’

Meanwhile work is beginning on the new Duleek, Bellewstown & District Community Facility which will be built on the grounds of Duleek/Bellewstown GFC in Duleek.

Croft Construction have been selected as preferred bidder for Phases 1&4 and Phase 2 Contracts, and work is due to start on the new Community Facility within the next two weeks.

“This is great news for the area and we are working closely with all the stakeholders to advance this project for the benefit of the entire area’ said Cllr McKee. “I pay tribute to all the community groups in the area in reaching agreement.
