Meeting to back rights of our school secretaries

SENATOR Ged Nash will host a public meeting to support the Forsa trade union ‘Support Our School’ Secretaries campaign.

The meeting will take place at 7pm on Thursday, 7th February 2019 in Barlow House, West Gate, Drogheda. The campaign meeting will be addressed by Elizabeth Phelan, school secretary and Forsa member and Joe O’Connor, Lead Organiser, Forsa Trade Union.

“As a Minister, TD and now as a Senator I have always fought hard and with considerable success to improve the legal framework of protections for the low paid and for those in precarious work.. It is high time that the pay and conditions of school secretaries/administrators who play such a fundamental role in the management of our local schools is improved and placed on a more secure footing,’ Sen Nash stated.

“Definitive government action must be taken this year to address the injustices experienced by school secretaries and to enable all school administrators to enjoy the same certainty, security and protections as the public servants they work alongside.’
