Greyhound meet their match

BOTTOM team Matthews became only the second side to take a point off Premier pace-setters Greyhound in the stand-out result from last Friday’s matches in the Fosters Duleek & District League.

The shock result boosts the Collon outfit’s chances of avoiding the wooden spoon in the top flight, while Lantern’s victory means they look set to join Carranstown, Mariner and Greyhound in the knockout stages.

Thatch C have joined Maguires at the summit in Division 1, with both still hoping to qualify automatically for the final, while Pheasant Bar have edged into the last knockout place at the expense of Morning Star.

Leaders Foxs are the only team certain to qualify in Division 2, with just one point covering the next five teams in a battle that will certainly go down to the wire.

In Division 3 it looks like Railway Bar, Maguires B and Mariner B will all contest the knockouts, with a number of sides still in contention for the last qualifying spot.
