Tapit goes live as part of local shopping experience

-

Local shoppers looking to get rewarded for buying local are one step closer to getting their hands on the new cash back app, Tapit. Launching on July 23rd, shoppers of Drogheda can now pre-register their interest on the newly released website, www.tapit.ie.

Once they pre-register, they’ll get early access and be the first to get the app when it goes live on the Android and iOS app stores.

Tapit, a new app designed to reward shoppers for shopping local is well on its way to Drogheda. The team behind the innovative platform has just released a new video on its website and social media channels.

“It’s a quick little video which explains the purpose of the app and how it all works. We decided to use a variety of channels to spread the word of Tapit.” explained Garrett Gunn, Co-Founder of Tapit. “Our explainer video and early access registration to the app is to encourage people to support local retailers.”

The Tapit app is a rewards programme for shoppers with a difference. It’s like other loyalty programmes that people have become used to using with two differences. Firstly, cash rewards are gathered straight-away. There’s no waiting for points to turn into vouchers. Secondly there is no need to search bags, pockets or wallets looking for your card to get stamped or swiped. It happens automatically.

This makes Tapit an easy way for retailers to reward loyalty and shoppers to show their loyalty to local shops as the recovery gets under way.

The video explains it quite nicely but in short, a shopper simply downloads the app, links their debit or credit card or both to the app. They pay in store as normal and when they are finished, they’ll get a text message informing how much cash has been earned. Once €25 is reached, it’s deposited straight back onto your bank card account.

The shops around Drogheda Town Centre that will start on the app on launch date include Scholars Townhouse Hotel, The Design Gallery, Five Good Things at the Highlanes Galley, Tuite’s

Butchers, The Crafty Fox, West End Salon, The Golf Bag, Peter Street Pharmacy, Kierans’ Deli, Kevin McAllister Electrical and Brian Reynolds Mazda & Fiat.

As the programme rolls out, more retailers are expected to join.

“In person shopping has been badly hit with the lockdown and the COVID-19 pandemic. We wanted to create a platform that was winwin for retailers and shoppers alike.” said the young entrepreneur. Garret and his co-founder Gavin Duffy from Cavan got accepted to the Enterprise Ireland New Frontiers programme, the development programme for innovative, early-stage start-ups, earlier in the year and have been working tirelessly on their concept.

After approaching the Drogheda & District Chamber with their idea, the enterprising duo were delighted to get the full support of the Chamber to assist them with their launch planning activities.

Drogheda is the first town in Ireland to use the app, with Dundalk launching a week later. Talks are underway with other major towns around Ireland.

Shoppers in Drogheda are encouraged to visit their website, www.tapit.ie and register for early access. Follow them on social media, @TapitCashBack on Facebook, @tapit_ie on Twitter for the most recent information leading up the launch of the Tapit App. Their key hashtag is #TapitRewards.

Those who register early are in with a change to win one of three €50 vouchers to be spent in participating local retailers.
