Fundraising Wexford Cycle due in town at the weekend
ONE of Ireland’s longest running and largest charity cycles, The Wexford Cycle, will take place on Saturday (September 16).
The event, which raises funds for Peter McVerry Trust, has been going since 1990 with hundreds of cyclists of all abilities travelling from UCD to Wexford. The 134km cycle has raised over €3 million for Peter McVerry Trust since it was first organised. The charity is now urging more cyclists to sign up to this year’s cycle to help it respond to the ever deepening homeless and housing crisis. The support of each and every cyclist that takes part in the Wexford Cycle helps Peter McVerry Trust to raise vital funds to put in place sustainable solutions to meet the needs of the vulnerable young people in homelessness. The Wexford Cycle culminates with a barbecue and post-race entertainment at Clayton White’s Hotel in Wexford.
Registration costs €80 and includes a cycle jersey, cycling support and refreshments along the entire route and transport back to Dublin for the cyclist and their bike. The barbecue will cost €25 and is a chance for thos taking part to relax and enjoy some light entertainment before returning to Dublin. You can register at www.pmvtrust.ie
