BACK TO SCHOOL

The primary schools of Clonegal and Kildavin opened their doors for the autumn term on Wednesday and Thursday, August 30 and 31, and once again brought the cheery chatter of children’s voices to the villages. Both schools had a number of newcomers taking their first steps. Although an odd tear fell the first day was not as sad a day for parents or children as it had been in days gone by.

Clonegal NS has a total of 19 new pupils; Grace Armitage Ennis, Alexandra Balfe, Evan Brennan, Noah Coleman, Isabella Corrigan, Darcy Gray, Conor Kavanagh, Emily Kavanagh, Paige Kenny, Conor Murphy, Saoirse Murphy, Toby Murphy, Ella Sheridan-O’Connor, Joseph O’Reilly, Ewan Porter, Kieran Reagan, Keira Sipaviciute-Gahan, Aoife Slye and Hannah Sweeney.

Kildavin has a total of 15 newcomers: Harry Byrne, Jeremiah Connors, Lee Cummins, Ava Deacon, Oraith Doyle, Eoin Finn, James Kirwan, Harper Mernagh, Sorcha Walker, Beth-Anne Nolan, Ella Nolan, Sarah Ryan, Emily Stephens, Erwin Tokarczyk and Darragh Treacy. We also like to welcome a new Senior Infant, Olivia Porter. We wish all the new pupils and their teachers all the best.

DEFIBRILLATOR

Kildavin-Clonegal GAA Club premises has been the location for a defibrillator, purchased by the community of Kildavin some time ago. The club is privileged for the opportunity to support the community by housing the defibrillator and funding its maintenance.

Unfortunately it has been called into use a few times and as a consequence of this a number of people have asked that consideration be given to providing an outdoor location for it, eliminating the need to get access to the building at a time when it is not in use.

As the club is merely a facilitator in the provision of a community defibrillator, it feels it can only make a decision on this proposal after consulting with the community who purchased the defibrillator. If any one wishes to contact the club with a proposal, suggestion or comment in relation to this situation, please emailsecretary.kildavinclonegal.carlowgaa.ie or phone or text Mgt at 087 8380018.
