Drugs worth €3,000 are seized after chase

Enniscorthy Guardian - - NEWS -

DRUGS with an estimated street value of around €3,000 were seized from a vehicle in Bunclody on Saturday morning after a high speed chase which culminated in the fleeing car colliding with a van near the Applegreen Station at Ryland Street.

The incident took place at around 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. Gardaí noticed a car being driven dangerously and activated the blue lights to pull the driver over. The driver, a local man aged in his 20s, refused to stop the vehicle, however, and set off driving at speed. Gardaí gave chase and the incident came to a conclusion on Ryland Street after the man took the bend too fast and hit a van, bringing him to an instant stop at which point he was arrested.

A garda spokesman said that nobody was injured as a result of the collision and the damage to the vehicles was minimal.

Upon arresting the man, gardaí carried out a search of the vehicle and discovered a package containing ‘a controlled substance’ to the value of €3,000. The man was conveyed to Enniscorthy Garda Station and charges are expected to be forthcoming.
