Young woman hit pedestrian with car

Enniscorthy Guardian - - NEWS -

A YOUNG woman who struck a pedestrian with her car in Enniscorthy has been handed a €400 fine by Judge Gerard Haughton at the District Court. Ciara Cooney (23) of 80 Moran Park was charged with dangerous driving following the incident on April 5 of last year. This was later reduced to careless driving on a plea of guilty.

Solicitor Catriona Walsh said that there were two pedestrian crossings on the day. Her client passed through the first and didn’t see a person walk out at the second. She said that the insurance company were covering the incident and that Cooney has sold her car and not driven since, suffering from anxiety.

Upon hearing all the evidence, Judge Haughton handed Cooney a €400 fine.
