Enniscorthy man charged with theft changes his plea
A MAN charged with theft from Dunnes Stores in Enniscorthy on August 8 of last year suffered a temporary moment of confusion when he appeared before Judge Gerard Haughton last week, entering the wrong plea.
Paul Keane (45) of 4 Daphne View, Enniscorthy was asked how he wished to plead and he replied guilty. Gardaí began to give the facts when Keane’s solicitor Niamh Moriarty jumped up and said: ‘Apologies Judge, my client meant to say not guilty.’
Ms Moriarty then made a Gary Doyle Order to be furnished with all the evidence against her client, including CCTV footage from the store, and the case was put back until January 17 for hearing.
