Uninsured driver gave false name to gardai
DRIVING without insurance despite having two previous similar convictions for which he was disqualified has resulted in a Romanian national being handed community service at the District Court.
Robert Ranislav (22) of Apt. 3 Riverside Court, Templeshannon, pleaded guilty to driving without a licence or insurance and giving a false name and address to gardaí when stopped at Abbey Quay on September 12 last.
Solicitor Mark Quinn asked if the Judge would be minded to request a Probation Report and said that his client would be willing to engage with the Probation Services. The Judge pointed out that this was a third conviction for no insurance before handing Ranislav 120 hours community service in lieu of five months in prison.
He also banned him from driving for six years on the no insurance charge and the charge of driving without a licence.
