POTENTIALLY LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT FOR FERNS
A piece of equipment that could potentially save lives was recently installed at the Applegreen Service Station at Main Street, Ferns. A state of the art defibrillator is now mounted in a cabinet at the main door of the shop, with the code available from any member of staff in the event of an emergency.
Ferns Community First Responders (CFR) were delighted with the addition which was donated to the community by a local businessman and say that it has the potential to save the lives of people in the local community or those who are just passing through.
Ferns CFR went live just 16 months ago and in that time they have already attended a total of 83 calls. The group is comprised of local volunteers who offer support to the National Ambulance Service by providing emergency first response in the event of chest pain, stroke, choking or cardiac arrest in the local area.
The group wished to thank the local community for all the support and good will they have received. A number of events have taken place in recent months with the public and local businesses digging deep to ensure that the group is fully equipped to assist the Ambulance service when required.
Ferns CFR are always looking for new recruits too. For more info email info@ fernscfr.com or call Mary on 0872327902.
