More than 7km of wa­ter mains re­placed

IR­ISH Wa­ter, in part­ner­ship with Wex­ford County Coun­cil, says it has re­placed more than 7km of old wa­ter mains at a num­ber of lo­ca­tions in the county, re­sult­ing in a more re­li­able and se­cure wa­ter sup­ply. The project rep­re­sents an in­vest­ment of €926,000.

A to­tal of 3.25km of wa­ter mains have been re­placed in Bal­lymitty and a fur­ther 920m of mains have been re­placed in Welling­ton­bridge. Work also took place in the Ferns area where 3km of age­ing mains have been re­placed.

Ir­ish Wa­ter said that as a re­sult of this work, 320,000 litres of treated wa­ter which had been lost to leak­age ev­ery day is now be­ing saved.
