Defendant is urged to avail of free legal aid

-

A 21-YEAR-OLD man who told District Court that he uses cannabis to make CBD oil was urged by Judge Gerard Haughton to obtain professional legal advice.

Joseph Connolly of 39 Glentire Heights, The Ballagh came to court accused of having €610 worth of the illicit drug.

He said that he wanted the case dealt with immediately but the matter was adjourned.

He admitted having cannabis for his own use but denied having it for sale or supply to others.

He informed the court that he was drawing disability allowance and repeatedly stated that he did not wish to be assigned free legal aid.

‘You would be extremely foolish not to be legally represented,’ said Judge Haughton as he put the case back for hearing on May 28.
