ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

We held our first meeting and the parade will be going ahead this year on March 17 as usual, starting from the Lower Street at 11.30 p.m., after assembling on the Inch road side of the Lower Street.

We are looking for people’s views and ideas for this year’s parade, so if you have any new ideas, please let us know or even better if you’d like to join the committee. We’d love to hear from you. You can contact Imelda McCarthy at 087 1310555 or Maureen Kelly.

It’s time to get your thinking hats on. What wild and wonderful idea can you come up with this year? Always great craic, dubbed Wexford’s friendliest parade. Lots of different categories. Make sure you don’t miss the fun. Looking forward to hearing all your marvellous ideas.

CARD DRIVE

A Monster 45 Card Drive will be held in Murphy’s Kilanerin on Tuesday night March 6. The organising committee is looking for as much support as possible. All proceeds from this event will be shared between Crumlin Children’s Hospital and Pieta House, so please make a big effort to support.

BIRTHDAYS

Birthday greetings to Jamie Kelly, Coolnagloose, whose 10th birthday was on last Friday, March 2, also Doireann Malone, whose eighth birthday was on last Saturday, March 3, and Amy Condren, Johnstown, whose 10th birthday was on last Sunday, March 4. Good wishes to all three.

TIDY TOWNS

The Tidy Towns Group held their AGM on January 30 with a very good turnout with a big interest shown. The Spring Clean is almost here and they are looking for a lot of volunteers as every local road is littered with rubbish. The committee were delighted to get a cheque from the Dept of Rural and Community Development, they also received a Bequest for which they are very grateful, which means they can now get more equipment to help keep they village looking better.

SNOW STORM

The local area was very close to lock down over last weekend when the snowstorm left most roads almost impassable for a number of days, and in many cases 4-wheel drives were the only means of transport for many who needed to get out of their home.
