Cannabis worth €5,934 found at defendant’s house – gardai
A DISTRICT Court judge was told last week that a case before him should only be disposed of by him on the basis of a guilty plea, according to directions from the DPP.
Sergeant Gary Raynor made the comment to Judge Kevin Staunton in the case of Wayne McGrath, 51 Daphne View, Enniscorthy, who is charged with having unlawful possession of drugs at his address on December 30, 2016.
‘There were €5,934 worth of cannabis found during a search at the defendant’s house,’ said Sgt Raynor.
The defendant’s solicitor said ‘there will likely be a course of action’ taken by his client in relation to the charge.
‘It’s in for summary disposal on a guilty plea only,’ said Sgt Raynor.
‘There will be a certain course of action but we want a Gary Doyle Order anyway,’ said the solicitor.
Judge Staunton adjourned the case, for mention, to October 3.
