Cyclist hit by car in Enniscorth­y town

A CYCLIST was rushed to hospital on Friday evening after being hit by a car in Enniscorth­y.

The incident took place at around 3.20 p.m. near the junction of Esmonde Road and Spring Valley.

Gardaí were immediatel­y called to the scene where they found the 55 year-old man lying in the road with blood coming from his head.

An ambulance was called and the man received some treatment at the side of the road before being brought to Wexford General Hospital where he received further treatment for minor injuries.

It is believed that as well as receiving a nasty gash to his head, the man may have injured his shoulder.

A garda spokesman said that the driver of the car involved had remained at the scene and spoke to gardaí. There were also witnesses at the scene and statements will be taken as the investigat­ion continues.
