Alleged sexual assault offences

A 49-YEAR-OLD man was formally sent forward for trial in the Central Criminal Court on 48 charges alleging sexual offences dating back to the 1980s and 1990s.

The District Court sitting at Belvedere Road in Wexford heard confirmation that the book of evidence had been served on the defendant by a garda.

The man accused of 14 indencent assaults 33 sexual assaults and one rape was represented before Judge Kevin Staunton by solicitor Tim Cummings.

Mr Cummings and two barristers were assigned to the matter on free legal aid and the defendant left court after signing a bail bond.
