CELTIC ROOTS
A ‘Full Irish’ show in association with Celtic Roots will begin in Bree Hall this on Tuesday, July 10. Tea and scones are served at 8.30 p.m. and the night’s entertainment begins at 9 p.m. with music, song, dance and storytelling. The show will be presented each Tuesday night during July and August. Clonegal/ Kildavin PRIDE OF PLACE
The judging day for the National Pride of Place is set for Thursday, July 26, starting at 10 a.m. This will be a great day of celebration for the village of Clonegal. The next planning meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 11, at 7 p.m. in St Brigid’s Hall. All are most welcome.

As part of the Carlow Garden Festival, Leonie Cornelius, winner of RTÉ’s Super Garden and the Mail on Sunday gardening columnist, will give a talk in Huntington Castle and Gardens, Clonegal at midday. Admission €5. Leonie will also visit Newtownbarry House and Gardens, Bunclody at 3 p.m. Admission €5. Monday, July 30, Fionnuala Fallon, gardening correspondent with the Irish Times will give a talk in the Meadows, Myshall at 3 p.m. Admission €5. Tuesday, July 31, Cormac Downey, OPW Tree Officer will visit Altamont Gardens, Tullow at 11 a.m. Admission is free.

RUMMAGE SALE
Mini Fundraiser to raise funds to purchase a ‘Buddy Bench’ for Kilmyshall National School which will take place each Saturday for the month of July at the Local Bunclody Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in St Aidan’s Hall Irish Street (seventh, 14th, 21st, 22nd (Bunclody Festival) and the 28th).
We will have a wide variety of items from books, DVD’s, toys, bric-à-brac and lots more, plenty of bargains with prices starting from 50c, €1, €2 etc. why not pop in and have a good rummage and grab a bargain while also helping us fundraiser for a Buddy Bench.
What is a Buddy Bench? A Buddy Bench is somewhere you can go and sit if you are feeling a little bit lonely especially if you are after starting a new school and are feeling a little bit overwhelmed and for each child to know they are not the only one feeling that way and we want to encourage confidence in every child that attends Kilmyshall National School.
We will also be holding a raffle with tickets on sale each Saturday and with the draw for the raffle taking place on Saturday, July 28.

Marshalstown-Castledockrell PARISH SOCIAL NIGHT
Our Parish Night this year will take place on Sunday, July 29, in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy. Music will be by SHAWN CUDDY and his band. Dancing from 9.30 p.m. Tickets are now available at €10 each. Door Prize and raffle on the night. All proceeds to parish funds.
CASTLEDOCKRELL NS
Our school tour this year took place on June 14 and took us across the border to the beautiful county of Kilkenny. An early start for everybody. We were on board the bus just after 8 a.m. for a great sing song.
Our day started in the leafy surroundings of Castlecomer Discovery Park where the senior room embarked on some high rope tree top activities and the climbing wall. The junior room walked deep into the woods to the fairy village where they completed a junior obstacle course. We all then reassembled for a Water Ecology study of the local river. We looked at different species in the ecosystem to determine the level of pollution. After lunch the senior room headed off to the pedal boats and the canoes, while the junior room had great run in the adventure playground.
Then it was back on the bus and we set off to the nearby Dunmore Caves. There, a guide took us far down underground to explore these ancient caves and we listened to how they were formed many years ago and later discovered by a local farmer. We climber 700 steps in total. As we made our way home to Castledockrell we still had lots of energy for singing. A really great day was had by all.

RATHNURE NS
Congratulations to the boys and girls of Rathnure National School, who presented the Funky Kids Show in Rathnure hall recently. Two great nights of entertainment were had by all.
Rathnure parents’ association would like to wish all the children and teachers a very happy holidays and to thank all the parents and grandparents for their contributions and continued support through the year. Thanks also to the children and teachers of Rathnure National School for the fantastic display of young talent at the Funky Kids Shows during the last week of school term.
GAA CLUB NEWS
Well done to our Under-11 hurlers who came out on top in their blitz held by the Duffry Rovers last weekend. They beat Askamore/Kilrush in the final.
Hard luck to the Wexford Under-21 hurlers who were beaten by Galway late into extra-time in a classic Leinster Final. The final score was Galway 4-21 Wexford 2-26. Well done to Rory Higgins representing the club lining out at full-forward. They next meet Cork in an all-Ireland semi-final.

Club lotto – The numbers last Tuesday, July 3, were 3, 16, 18 and 32. There was no jackpot winner. Paddy Kelly, Clongeen was the one match-three winner who won €100. The jackpot this Tuesday the 10th is €3,400.
ROBOT SUMMER CAMP
Would your child be interested in a summer camp for building their own robot? Build your own small robot and program through its online coding language – Ozoblockly. You will also program this machine by using colour codes on tracks drawn on paper.
The TEK central Computer/ coding/robotics will take place in Kiltealy hall from July 30 to August 3 from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Suitable for 12- to 18-year-olds. Activities will include: Makey Makey invention kit to create interactive games, using block editor and python to make games, build your own circuit (similar to Hexbug) and Robotics using Ozobots.
