A com­mu­nity ser­vice or­der handed down nine years ago to Joseph Ryan of 109 Sean Browne Court, En­nis­cor­thy has not yet been com­pleted, the Dis­trict Court was told. The mat­ter was ad­journed to al­low Ryan carry out the 172 hours work still out­stand­ing un­der the su­per­vi­sion of the court’s pro­ba­tion staff.

Solic­i­tor He­len Mur­phy ex­plained the de­lay, telling the court that her client was out of the coun­try from late in 2009 un­til 2016.

Judge Ger­ard Haughton warned that fail­ure to com­plete the com­mu­nity ser­vice would trig­ger the al­ter­na­tive, a spell in prison.
