Public to have a say on mental health services

-

THE HSE’s community healthcare department in the south east, is setting up public forums in Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary and Waterford to consult with people on the provision of mental health services.

The forums will provide a voice for the users of mental health services and their families and carers, to share experiences, raise issues and be consulted and involved in the development of mental health services in their areas, according to a statement from the health authority.

The move follows recommendations in the national mental health strategy ‘A Vision for Change’ and the HSE’s own national strategy for patient involvement which have made it a priority for service users, families and carers to be centrally involved in the design, planning, delivery and evaluation of services.

A County Wexford Wexford information meeting will be held at the Wexford Mental Health Association premises in Henrietta Street, Wexford on Monday, November 19 at 6 p.m. Everyone interested is welcome to attend.
