Gorey chase Under-15 double as Coiste concludes

BARRING REPLAYS, the People Newspapers Coiste na nÓg championsh­ips will finish this weekend and, whatever happens between Naomh Eanna and Glynn-Barntown, it has been a fantastic season for the Gorey District.

The Páirc Uí Shíocháin club picked up their third title last weekend, beating Buffers Alley to move to the summit of the roll of honour.

This success comes on the back of a Minor double that saw them claim the Premier football championsh­ip and Premier hurling shield.

On the three-trophy mark, they joined District rivals Ballinastr­agh Gaels. The Kilanerin/Tara Rocks boys are the only club to win in the three age groups, after taking the Premier Minor and Under-15 football shields, plus the Under-13 Division 3 hurling title to mark a fantastic year for the club.

Elsewhere in the District, Buffers Alley enjoyed a double with wins in Roinn 2 of the Minor hurling, plus their success in the Under-13 Division 2 football shield.

Craanford won the Minor hurling Roinn 1 shield, Réalt na Mara collected the Under-13 Division 5 football shield, and Kilrush were the last side standing in the Minor football Roinn 2 shield.

Oylegate-Glenbrien lead the way in the Enniscorth­y District with their two successes, with the chance to add another in the Under-15 Roinn 1 football shield tonight (Tuesday).

That would match their hurling success at the same grade, while their Under-13s took the Division 2 crown.

Ballyhogue picked up two im- pressive hurling cups. Their Under-13s wrapped up the Division 5 title while their Under-15s were too strong for the rest in Roinn 2.

Likewise, Cloughbawn doubled-up with the small ball, as their Minor Roinn 1 title supplement­ed an Under-13 Division 4 crown.

Other sides in the District able to bring Under-13 silverware back to the clubhouse included Starlights, winners of the Division 1 football shield; Duffry Rovers, who took the Division 2 football championsh­ip; Davidstown-Courtnacud­dy, successful in Division 4 football, and Oulart-The Ballagh, the Division 1 hurling champions. Monageer-Boolavogue took the Minor hurling Roinn 2 shield.

St. Anne’s are the toast of the Wexford District after picking up the Under-13 Division 1 and the Under-15 Roinn 1 football cups.

It was also a fantastic season for the Kilross duo, as they combined for the Minor football Roinn 2 title, while Rosslare won the Under-15 hurling shield and Kilmore took the Under-13 hurling Division 4 shield.

Faythe Harriers nabbed one of the biggies, the Wexford People Minor hurling Premier crown. There was double Wexford District delight in Minor Roinn 1 football, with Sarsfields winners of the cup and Our Lady’s Island/St. Fintan’s successful in the shield, and the latter will hope to beat Oylegate-Glenbrien to Under-15 Roinn 1 shield glory tonight too.

Shelmalier­s won the Under-15 Roinn 1 hurling while neighbours Crossabeg-Ballymurn took the Under-13 Division 3 football shield.

St. Martin’s captured the Un- der-15 Premier hurling shield, while Glynn-Barntown claimed the Under-13 Division 1 hurling shield and could yet add the Under-15 Premier football title against Naomh Eanna on Saturday.

It was a season of consolidat­ion in the New Ross District. Horeswood and Taghmon-Camross were the big achievers, as the former now hold the Under-13 football Division 5 cup and hurling Division 3 shield, while the latter took the Under-15 football Roinn 2 cup and Under-13 Division 5 hurling shield.

There was Under-13 success for St. James’ in the Division 3 football championsh­ip, while Adamstown took the Division 4 shield and Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n won the Division 2 hurling shield.

Finally, Bannow-Ballymitty were victors in the Under-15 football Roinn 2 shield.
