Double delight for trainer Anglim in winning week
THINGS ARE starting to get back to some kind of normality as patrons are welcome back to racing this week, and greyhound enthusiasts will be eager to enjoy a good night’s action at the Enniscorthy track again.
Some owners and trainers have made a quick start back, with their runners in top form at the moment.
Trainer Joe Anglim had a good double in the week as he won race eight on Monday night with the Dolores Sidney-owned Blind Stew, who showed good early gears to lead and leave trouble behind him as he turned into the back and stretched on to score by five lengths.
In race six on Thursday night, Anglim saw the John White-owned Clougheast Lass also lead up from traps before going on to score snugly in the end to complete his double.
John Codd and Diana Brody had a good week also. Their Cushie Spirit went past leader Sweet Lily down the back in race two on Monday night and raced home a comfortable winner in 29.46 -0.30 slow.
And on Thursday night, Cushie Wayne put up a nice performance when racing to a clearcut win in a fast 28.99 -0.20 slow in race five.
There was a couple more sub 29-second runs on Thursday night,starting when Packies Close took race one in fine style, coming home four and a half lengths ahead in a good 28.96 -0.20 slow.
In race eight, Rental Dispute put in a very good run when showing the superior early form to go into a clear lead down the back.
It looked like this was going to be an easy winner, but Lakeview Boy - a winner the previous week - was making big strides and cut the deficit to only a length at the line.
Both greyhounds came out of the race with great credit in a time of 28.84 -0.20 slow.
