Don­abate Dis­trib­u­tor Road is ‘well ad­vanced’ says chief exec

THE Don­abate Dis­trib­u­tor Road which is seen as cru­cial to the fu­ture de­vel­op­ment of the penin­sula and the de­liv­ery of a ma­jor hous­ing project, is ‘well ad­vanced’ ac­cord­ing to Fingal County Coun­cil.

Coun­cil chief ex­ec­u­tive, Paul Reid re­ported last week that ‘ the de­sign of the Don­abate Dis­trib­u­tor Road is well ad­vanced, with ten­der doc­u­men­ta­tion be­ing pre­pared in tan­dem with the com­ple­tion of the de­sign el­e­ment’.

Ex­plain­ing what hap­pens next, a re­port from the chief ex­ec­u­tive stated: ‘A two stage ten­der­ing pro­ce­dure has been adopted for this project. The first stage, Pre­qual­i­fi­ca­tion Com­pe­ti­tion, com­menced in Fe­bru­ary and the re­sults of this stage will be known mid-May.’

The chief ex­ec­u­tive’s re­port added: ‘Fol­low­ing the se­lec­tion of a num­ber of suit­ably qual­i­fied con­trac­tors, the sec­ond stage, the ten­der­ing for the con­struc­tion of the Dis­trib­u­tor Road will com­mence.’

The re­port con­cluded: ‘It is an­tic­i­pated that this will be com­pleted in the 3rd quar­ter 2017 and con­struc­tion will com­mence on site by the end of the year.
