Young man fined €300 for possession of cannabis
A YOUNG man who was caught with cannabis has been convicted and fined €300.
Patrick Sheehy (25) was in a car which was parked up in a car park at Delvin Bridge in Balbriggan.
When gardai approached the car they got a smell of cannabis and upon searching the defendant they located €10 worth of cannabis.
The defendant, of Martello Mews in Balbriggan admitted it was for his own personal use. He pleaded guilty before Balbriggan District Court to being in unlawful possession of the cannabis on September 8th, 2016. He has no previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Fiona D’Arcy said the defendant isn’t in a position to deal with it by way of a charitable donation leaving Judge Dempsey with no option but to impose the fine and conviction.
