Lo­cal busi­nesses part­ner for ‘Alzheimer’s Tea Day’ event

A Swords health care com­pany and a lo­cal food busi­ness com­bined forces re­cently for an­nual Alzheimer’s Tea Day event. Broad­meadow Healtchare was de­lighted to part­ner with Gourmet Food Par­lour in host­ing an Alzheimer’s Tea Day in Swords.

The Tea Day took place at Gourmet Food Par­lour, ear­lier this month and lo­cals were in­vited to join in to sup­port the many peo­ple liv­ing in our com­mu­nity liv­ing with Alzheimer’s and other forms of de­men­tia. Broad­meadow Health­care Group are spe­cial­ists in the ar­eas of care for the older per­son and through the Swords-based firm’s con­sul­tancy ser­vices and op­er­a­tion of Nurs­ing Homes it has seen the alarm­ing in­crease of the numbers of peo­ple suf­fer­ing from de­men­tia.

In Ire­land we have 55,000 peo­ple liv­ing with de­men­tia and al­most 4,000 new cases be­ing di­ag­nosed ev­ery year. Mem­bers of the Broad­meadow Health­care team were be on hand to of­fer ad­vice and guid­ance in the ar­eas of de­men­tia care on the morn­ing of the Tea Day event at Gourmet Food Par­lour in Swords.

The Alzheimer So­ci­ety of Ire­land pro­vides spe­cific ser­vices, sup­port and ad­vo­cates for the rights of all peo­ple liv­ing with De­men­tia and their car­ers and fam­i­lies. The Swords event was well sup­ported and the lo­cal part­ners host­ing the Tea Day hope the aware­ness events like that help to raise will make a real dif­fer­ence in the lives of peo­ple with de­men­tia.
