New Thresh­old housing sup­port out­reach opens

A NEW weekly Thresh­old Housing Sup­port out­reach ser­vice has been opened by the Bal­brig­gan.

The Bal­brig­gan Ci­ti­zens In­for­ma­tion Cen­tre will op­er­ate the new ser­vice ev­ery Wed­nes­day morn­ing from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on a walk-in ba­sis in its of­fice on the 1st Floor Bal­brig­gan Li­brary, Ge­orge’s Square .

‘As a ser­vice we have seen a 20% in­crease in queries (sim­i­lar to that re­ported na­tion­wide) re­lat­ing to housing in 2016 re­gard­ing land­lord / ten­ant dis­putes,’ stated An­drew Mccann, De­vel­op­ment Man­ager for Fin­gal Ci­ti­zens In­for­ma­tion Ser­vice.

‘We are de­lighted to work in co-oper­a­tion with Thresh­old, the na­tional housing char­ity, in be­ing able to pro­vide a much needed one-to-one ser­vice to the peo­ple of Bal­brig­gan and sur­round­ing area.

‘We hope that peo­ple can avail of this ex­cel­lent ser­vice in ad­di­tion to that pro­vided by our team,’ he stated.

In 2016, 1 in 6 peo­ple na­tion­wide vis­ited a Ci­ti­zens In­for­ma­tion Cen­tre, and over 40% of all queries are of a so­cial wel­fare na­ture Ci­ti­zens In­for­ma­tion in North Fin­gal via the four cen­tres in Swords, Sk­er­ries, Bal­brig­gan and Malahide pro­vide a free, im­par­tial, non-judge­men­tal and con­fi­den­tial in­for­ma­tion, as­sis­tance and ad­vo­cacy sup­port ser­vice to all on all their so­cial and civic rights and en­ti­tle­ments
