SWORDS Celtic’s search for their first win of the season in Senior 1 Sunday continues after they earned their third draw in four games at Tolka Rovers.

Tolka took the lead early on, but to Swords credit they worked their way back into the game before forcing the home defender to divert the ball into his own net.

Swords had been in the ascendancy for the opening quarter of an hour, albeit without creating much of note. An excellent move mid-way through the half saw the ball laid off to Graham Leahy whose first-time shot was well held by the keeper.

Tolka grew into the game and took the lead with practically their first real effort on goal. After a Swords attack was broken up Tolka countered quickly, with their number 10 sweeping the ball past Oisin Mccarthy to make it 1-0 on the half-hour.

Swords worked hard to get back into the game and following good work from Andrew Timmins down the right a Gavin Smith fizzing cross struck a Tolka defender and flew past the home goalkeeper - 1-1.

The second half was entertaining as both sides attacked at will in search of a winner.

Swords created the better chances, with Gavin Smith unlucky to see his piledriver from distance hit the top of the bar, while Sean Kelly saw his goalbound effort saved on the line by the scrambling Tolka keeper. SWORDS CELTIC: Oisin Mccarthy, Gavin Logan, David Cox, Sean Kelly, Graham Duff, Graham Leahy, Owen Jones, Andrew Timmins, Calvin Dooney, Evan Kelly, Gavin Smit.
