Man given time to pay compensation
A MAN who made off without paying for petrol from a petrol station in Garristown has been given a month to come up with compensation.
Kyle Smith (23) drove his Rover car onto the forecourt of Emo Service Station in the village and filled his car up with €40 of petrol. He then drove away without making an attempt to pay, Balbriggan District Court heard.
He was later identified as the driver of the car following enquiries.
Smith, of Clonard Court in Balbriggan pleaded guilty to making off without paying for the fuel at the service station on February 15th.
The defendant has several previous road traffic convictions including two for no insurance.
Defence solicitor Fiona D’arcy said the €40 for the service station is still outstanding but that the defendant can get it together within two weeks. ‘He is holding his hands up,’ said Ms D’arcy.
Judge John Cheatle adjourned the case for four weeks for the defendant to come up with the compensation before finalising the case.
