Gate Lodge nearly done Support for Tidy Towns Paddy’s Hill car parking
THE refurbishment of a Gate Lodge at Malahide Demesne near Mcallister’s Junction will be completed by the end of the year, according to the council.
Answering a question on the issue from Cllr Eoghan O’brien (FF) the council revealed the timeline for the project that will convert the old Gate Lodge into an artists’ studio for a new artist in residence programme at Malahide Demesne. The refurbishment began in April and is due to be completed ‘ toward the end of 2017’, according to the council. THE council has pledged continued support to Malahide Tidy Towns efforts in the national competition.
On behalf of the local Tidy Towns, Cllr Eoghan O’brien (FF) presented a list of issues that Tidy Towns wanted to work with the council to address in the next year. He suggested a dedicated person within the council to deal liaise with the Tidy Towns committee on the issue but the council said that that Tidy Towns already engaged with council staff and ‘every effort is made to assist them in all their activities’. PLANS are being made to extend parking at Paddy’s Hill car park in Portmarnock.
Responding to a request from Cllr Brian Mcdonagh (Lab) to improve the availability of parking there, the council said it is already making arrangements to ‘ leave the car park at Paddy’s Hill open on a permanent basis’. It said the work to allow this to happen would take place ‘in the next few weeks’. In addition, the local authority said that extending the car park would be ‘included for considerations in the 2018 Works Programme’.
