Believing that he was heading to Hollywood Lakes Golf Club for a small family dinner, Mick received a huge shock when it turned out to be a surprise party.

Over 90 guests, including family, close relations and friends joined Mick on the night for what was a very memorable occasion.

Mick who was born in the neighbouring County of Meath in 1927 moved to the village of Ballyboughal when he married local woman Nan Mahon in 1955.

He built up a thriving dairy farm enterprise, which to this day is still going strong through the efforts of his son Joe and grandson Michael.

Over the years the farm has won many quality awards and the pedigree Holstein Friesian herd have excelled at many events Countrywide.

A 15-minute video of his life was played on the night, which brought back many happy memories for Mick.

Mick’s only surviving sibling, his sister May, joined in the celebrations, who at a sprightly 97 years of age was well up for a party.

Family who were there on the night included sons Joe and Colm and daughters Ann, Pauline and Margaret and his granddaughter Hayley flew in from Toronto that morning to join in the celebrations.

Mick’s family would like to thank everybody involved in making the night so memorable and to thank all the guests who joined us to celebrate Mick’s 90 incredible years. Special thanks also to Helen, Lisa, Paul and Sabrina from the restaurant in Hollywood Lakes who played a blinder on the night.
