Added special ed resources considered for Holy Family
HOLY Family Senior School in Swords is to be considered for additional resources for special education.
Local Fine Gael Senator James Reilly has welcomed confirmation from Minister Richard Bruton’s office that Holy Family Senior School, in Swords will be referred to the NCSE National Council for Special Education in order to consider additional resources to meet the needs of that school.
Senator Reilly said: ‘I look forward to the outcome of the review and hopefully additional resources being allocated for special needs puplils at this school in Swords.’
In an email sent to the senator from Minister Bruton, the Minister for Education states his response to an appeal for more resources at Holy Family, saying: ‘ The Minister for Education and Skills has just approved the review process which the NCSE National Council for Special Education propose to use to review schools with exceptional circumstances.
‘ The NCSE has some capacity to provide additional resources for schools where there is evidence of additional need. The review will involve an examination of the issues which the school has raised and a full assessment of the full cohort of special needs pupils in the school including those who in the past might have been identified in the learning support category (GAM). The Minister suggests that this case should be submitted to the NCSE’S review process for its consideration.’
