Accused obtained licence on internet
A MAN who obtained a driving licence over the Internet was quite naive and believed it to be authentic, a court has heard.
Pawel Szczykutowicz (32) had to produce his driving licence at a garda station. However, the licence was discovered to be fake following an analysis by gardai, Balbriggan District Court heard.
The defendant, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to using a false driving licence on April 19th at Balbriggan Garda Station.
The defendant, who has an address at Moylaragh Avenue in Balbriggan, didn’t have a driving licence, defence solicitor Fiona D’arcy told the court.
‘He went onto the Internet and obtained one from a website. The result is the licence he produced at the garda station. He was quite naive and believed it to be authentic,’ said Ms D’arcy.
‘He knows now he has to do right and he is anxious to avoid a conviction,’ she added.
Judge John Cheatle said if the defendant makes a charitable donation of €100 he will strike the case out. Once the money was handed over, he struck the case out.
