Plans for a major ‘jobs hub’ at Lissenhall site
A major new ‘employment hub’ is being developed at Lissenhall with the potential to stimulate significant job growth in Swords.
Fingal County Council is at an early stage in the design and planning process for the huge 28 hectare development and wants input from the public as it prepares a draft Local Area Plan for the Lissenhall East lands.
Fingal County Council opened a public consultation for the Lissenhall East Local Area Plan this week.
With the pre-draft Issues Paper for the Lissenhall East LAP soon to be launched, Fingal County Council is inviting submissions from the public regarding the plan which is in its early stages.
The Lissenhall East LAP encompasses an area of approximately 28 hectares of ‘High Technology’ or HT zoned lands and is positioned on a land bank located north of Swords town centre and bound by the M1, the R132 and the Estuary Road.
The LAP lands are also located in close proximity to planned significant public transportation infrastructure including the Quality Bus Corridor, Bus Rapid Transit and Metro North, according to the council.
A spokesperson for Fingal County Council described the vision for the site, saying: ‘The planned development of the Lissenhall East LAP lands offers significant potential for the creation of a locally and regionally important employment centre in the Swords area.
‘The development of a new employment hub will stimulate job creation and allow existing and future business demands to be met through the provision of high quality, high value office accommodation at a highly accessible location.’
The pre-draft Issues Paper highlights a broad range of issues to be considered including economic development, urban design, movement and transportation, utility and communications infrastructure, biodiversity, heritage, flooding and environmental assessments.
This is the first stage of the Lissenhall East Public Consultation. Following the Pre-draft Issues stage there will be notice of further Consultation Processes. Members of the public will be able to make submissions until Friday December 22, online at https://consult.fingal. ie/en/browse
The Pre-draft Issues Paper will also be at that same web address and will be distributed locally so that neighbours of the site are kept informed of the project. Lissenhall as a whole has been identified as a major growth area for Swords.
