Swords treatment plant’s failure repaired
IRISH Water says the mechanical failure that led to the recent escape of unpleasant odours from the Swords Waste Water Treatment Plant, has been fixed.
According to a statement from Irish Water: ‘The mechanical equipment at Swords Waste Water Treatment Plant has been repaired and returned to full operation.
‘Irish Water are continuing to monitor its performance.’
The utility has warned that the odour problem could persist for about a week until the repair takes hold. The company explained: ‘It will take up to seven days for the plant to be restored to its normal operating conditions and during this time, the odours will persist but reduce. Irish Water wish to apologise to the community impacted by the bad odours and any inconvenience that this might cause. More information is available on the Service Updates section and on Twitter @IWCare. You can also call our customer care helpline, open 24/7, on 1820 278 278.’
