Sen­a­tor hosts cof­fee morn­ing in aid of lo­cal can­cer sup­port group

SEN­A­TOR Lor­raine Clif­ford Lee’s new con­stituency of­fice in Bal­brig­gan was put to good use re­cently when the Fin­gal sen­a­tor hosted a cof­fee morn­ing in aid of lo­cal chairty, the Bal­brig­gan Can­cer Sup­port Group.

Sen­a­tor Clif­ford Lee said the group pro­vide a ‘great ser­vice’ and while they are based in Bal­brig­gan, their reach ex­tends across the whole of Fin­gal.

‘They do not get any fund­ing at all from the Gov­ern­ment and have to fundraise so we de­cided to host this cof­fee morn­ing for them,’ Sen­a­tor Clif­ford Lee told the Fin­gal In­de­pen­dent.

The sen­a­tor wel­comed rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the char­ity, Sheila Byrne to the of­fice as well as her party col­leagues Lisa Cham­bers TD and Thomas Byrne TD.

Sen­a­tor Clif­ford Lee said there was a ‘good dis­cus­sion around can­cer ser­vices in the re­gion, on the day’ and she noted that there the kind of ser­vice the group pro­vides, of­fer­ing coun­selling and sup­port to can­cer suf­fer­ers and their fam­i­lies was not avail­able in the north county be­fore the char­ity was founded.
