Green Party’s plans to ‘fu­ture-proof’ Swords

A lo­cal Green Party rep­re­sen­ta­tive is host­ing a pub­lic meet­ing this Thurs­day on ‘fu­ture-proof­ing’ the de­vel­op­ment of Swords and Don­abate.

Lo­cal Green Party rep­re­sen­ta­tive, Mark Henry hosts the pub­lic meet­ing at the Carnegie Court Ho­tel in Swords on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 16 at 7.30pm and ev­ery­one is wel­come to at­tend.

En­ti­tled, ‘Fu­ture Proof­ing our Com­mu­nity’ the meet­ing will seek to ex­plore the choices ahead for lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties and speak­ers will in­clude Dr. Cara Au­gusten­borg of UCD & Friends of the Earth, Ruth Bug­gie of the Sus­tain­able En- ergy Author­ity of Ire­land, and Ea­mon Ryan TD, the leader of the Green Party.

Mr Henry ex­plained why he or­gan­ised the meet­ing, say­ing: ‘With so much change hap­pen­ing around us, we need to dis­cuss how we can make our com­mu­nity a safe and en­joy­able place to live for the next gen­er­a­tion,’

The Green Party rep­re­sen­ta­tive added: ‘We will need to make changes to our homes, in trans­port, in en­ergy, and in the food that we eat.

‘This meet­ing is a won­der­ful op­por­tu­nity to hear from ex­perts in the area and to con­sider what it means for us in Swords and the sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ties.’
