Rush group celebrates 90 years of drama with O’casey classic
THE Millbank Theatre in Rush has opened its 90th season with a production of the Sean O’casey classic ‘The Plough and the Stars’.
As is customary, the first night of the run was for charity, with Feilecain and the National Maternity Hospital Foundation the chosen beneficiaries this time around.
There were no apparent opening night nerves and a stellar Milbank cast under Director Brian Hosford provided a hugely moving and entertaining performance of this storyline which is set against the backdrop of the 1916 rising.
After the production the organisers of the two charities thanked the Millbank for ‘an evening not to be missed’ and congratulated them on the 90 years of quality theatre they have provided in the Fingal area.
The money raised on the night will go towards providing lifesaving equipment for babies born in life threatening circumstances, and also provide cuddle cots and memory boxes for families who have experienced stillbirth and neo natal death.
The Plough and the Stars runs from Wednesday to Saturday each week until November 25th.
Tickets can be booked at www.milbanktheatre.ie or at 01 8437475.
