A FIN­GAL-BASED nurs­ing home worker is in the run­ning for a pres­ti­gious award.

Sharon Hen­nessy, St Doolagh’s Park Care & Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­tre, Bal­grif­fin has been nom­i­nated in the Nurs­ing Home Di­rec­tor of Nurs­ing/ Per­son in Charge Award in the Nurs­ing Homes Ire­land Care Awards 2017, in as­so­ci­a­tion with Home­care Med­i­cal Sup­plies.

27 fi­nal­ists across a range of dis­ci­plines within the nurs­ing home sec­tor are go­ing for­ward to the na­tional awards cer­e­mony fi­nal that will take place Thurs­day at Ci­ty­west Ho­tel.

The awards recog­nise ex­cel­lent care pro­vided across a range of dis­ci­plines within nurs­ing homes and in­no­va­tive prac­tice in care pro­vi­sion.

There are three fi­nal­ists within nine award cat­e­gories and the in­te­gral role of res­i­dents within nurs­ing home life is recog­nised through a spe­cial res­i­dent achieve­ment award. The North Dublin fi­nal­ists and their award cat­e­gories are:

Tadhg Daly, Nurs­ing Homes Ire­land CEO, con­grat­u­lated the fi­nal­ists. ‘To reach the fi­nal of this na­tional awards cer­e­mony is a fan­tas­tic achieve­ment. En­tries of an ex­cep­tional stan­dard were re­ceived from com­mu­ni­ties across the coun­try, from peo­ple who work, live and visit nurs­ing homes.

‘To reach the fi­nal is a mag­nif­i­cent achieve­ment and our fi­nal­ists should be im­mensely proud of their ac­com­plish­ments, as should their nurs­ing home com­mu­ni­ties and those be­yond.’
