Labour select new local election candidate
A new Labour candidate will run at next year’s local elections in the newly formed Skerries/balbriggan Local Electoral Area.
The new candidate is Séana Ó’rodaigh and was selected by the local party to run, at a Labour selection event last week.
Labour TD for Fingal, Brendan Ryan attended the selection and welcomed Ms Ó’rodaigh to the team.
He said: ‘We are delighted that Seána Ó’rodaigh has been selected as our candidate for the Skerries/balbriggan Local Electoral Area for next year’s local elections.
‘Seána is a teacher in St Patrick’s national school in Skerries and has been a leader in youth mental health initiatives in the town.
‘I look forward to campaigning with her over the next few months as we look to reclaim a seat for Skerries and Balbriggan.’
Currently the party has no councillor representing Skerries or Balbriggan and are hoping to regain a seat in this newly formed ward under the new local electoral boundaries which will be in effect at next year’s local elections in Fingal. Ms Ó’rodaigh was welcomed to the local Labour team by the party’s three Fingal County councillors in the shape of Cllr Duncan Smith, Cllr Brian Mcdonagh and Cllr Robert O’donoghue.
All the parties that make up Fingal County Council’s elected members are readying themselves for battle as the council’s 40 seats come up for grabs again in 2019.
