A toast to Portmarnock AFC
Four decades of soccer in Portmarnock was celebrated in style at the centrepiece of Portmarnock AFC’S 40th anniversary year which took the form of a glittering gala dinner.
Portmarnock AFC is celebrating 40 years of football this season, marking the milestone with a number of events taking place throughout the year.
The club currently has nearly 600 members and this number is growing year on year.
The centre piece of this season’s celebrations is the 40th Anniversary Ball – which took place last week.
The Black Tie affair took place in the Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links. The evening began with a drinks reception followed by a Gala Dinner with entertainment afterwards by ‘The Willin’ Fools’.
Former Republic of Ireland manager Eoin Hand was the guest of honour at the black tie celebration and was joined by past and present club members, family, friends and guests to mark the occasion.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Anthony Lavin also attended the gala dinner and was delighted to celebrate 40 years of football with the local club.
Guests were brought on a trip down memory lane as a videos reminiscing on forty years of football at Portmarnock AFC were screened before the meal.
