BANK official Lisa Redmond (39) from Graiguebeg, Bunclody, appeared before the District Court in Gorey last week on false accounting charges.

Formal evidence of arrest, charge and caution was provided by Detective Garda Ian Hayes to Judge Gerard Haughton. The detective explained that Ms Redmond was assistant manager of Permanent TSB in Gorey when the alleged offences occurred in July 2015. What he described as irregularities came to light during an audit at the bank.

Ms Redmond was accused of dishonestly debiting €85,000 from the cash reserve account. Alternatively, she was charged with falsifying a document in order to inflate the figure for the ATM cash reserve held at the branch by €80,000 and inflating the previous day’s balance by €5,000.

Judge Haughton remarked that the amount of money appeared to be substantial. The garda said it was alleged that the defendant was responsible for a loss of €74,600 sustained by Permanent TSB.

The identity of any person who might have benefited was unknown, said Garda Hayes.
