Planning for 11 houses refused

Gorey Guardian - - NEWS -

Planning permission for eleven houses in Gorey has been refused.

Nigel Clarke Developments Limited had applied to Wexford County Council for planning permission to built eleven houses at Ballyownen or Ramsfortpark, Gorey. The houses, if given the go ahead would have comprised eleven two storey three bed homes as well as parking, green areas and other ancillary works.

In the planning report compiled by Graham Hunt the area where the houses were to be sited as described as a triangular shaped undeveloped site opposite Gorey Showgrounds. He said the land generally drops in ground level towards its northern boundary. The Creagh Stream with existing mature landscaping forms the northern boundary of the site.

Mr Hunt said that ‘the proposed development did not provide for the provision of an appropriate riparian zone adjacent to the Creagh stream on the northern side of the site. As such the proposed development would be contrary to objectives of the Gorey Local Area Plan and to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.’
