Wells House set to host an­tiques fair

The pop­u­lar two-day an­tiques fair re­turns to Wells House and Gar­dens this week­end.

An­tiques dealer Chan­tal For­tune from Bray is cu­rat­ing the third an­nual an­tiques fair in the big house this Satur­day and Sun­day, Septem­ber 16 and 17, from 1 p.m.

She has planned a com­bi­na­tion of dis­plays and demon­stra­tions. Among the at­trac­tions will be a se­lec­tion of deal­ers sell­ing their wares, in­clud­ing jew­ellery, sil­ver, china, col­lectibles, fur­ni­ture and car­pets.

An old rivet re­paired china col­lec­tion will be on dis­play with a crafts­man Mark For­tune de­mon­strat­ing how it was done. In the Great Hall, there will be fur­ni­ture restora­tion demon­stra­tions by Mau­rice Mol­loy of Mol­loy Restora­tion; and, on the Sun­day, paint­ing con­ser­va­tion­ist Pearl O’Sul­li­van will hold a paint­ing restora­tion demon­stra­tion.

Chan­tal will be do­ing free iden­ti­fi­ca­tion and valu­a­tions through­out the week­end.

En­try to the fair is €3 per per­son and an €8 per car en­try fee to the grounds ap­plies.
