Courtown man admits to burglary and damage of machines at Pirate’s Cove
Louis Cordiner (22) with an address at 19 An Ban, Courtown was before Gorey Court to admit two burglaries at Pirate’s Cove in Courtown.
The incidents at the well-known amusement centre occurred within a few hours of each other on the night of June 4 and 5 in 2015.
The burglaries netted €106 in coins but cost the owners of the premises €6,000 to repair damaged gaming machines.
Defending solicitor John O’Donovan told the court that the mother of the defendant said her son had ADHD and autism, which affected his ability to read and write.
Cordiner was described as English born with two Irish children and Mr O’Donovan reported that his client was not in a position to pay compensation.
However, in releasing Cordiner on bail for compilation of a probation report, Judge Gerard Haughton made it clear that he expected some money to be paid.
The matter stands adjourned to December 7.
