Fundrais­ing Wex­ford Cy­cle due in town at the week­end

ONE of Ire­land’s long­est run­ning and largest char­ity cy­cles, The Wex­ford Cy­cle, will take place on Satur­day (Septem­ber 16).

The event, which raises funds for Peter McVerry Trust, has been go­ing since 1990 with hun­dreds of cy­clists of all abil­i­ties travelling from UCD to Wex­ford. The 134km cy­cle has raised over €3 mil­lion for Peter McVerry Trust since it was first or­gan­ised. The char­ity is now urg­ing more cy­clists to sign up to this year’s cy­cle to help it re­spond to the ever deep­en­ing home­less and housing cri­sis. The sup­port of each and ev­ery cy­clist that takes part in the Wex­ford Cy­cle helps Peter McVerry Trust to raise vi­tal funds to put in place sus­tain­able solutions to meet the needs of the vul­ner­a­ble young peo­ple in home­less­ness. The Wex­ford Cy­cle cul­mi­nates with a bar­be­cue and post-race en­ter­tain­ment at Clay­ton White’s Ho­tel in Wex­ford.

Reg­is­tra­tion costs €80 and in­cludes a cy­cle jersey, cy­cling sup­port and re­fresh­ments along the en­tire route and trans­port back to Dublin for the cy­clist and their bike. The bar­be­cue will cost €25 and is a chance for thos tak­ing part to re­lax and en­joy some light en­ter­tain­ment be­fore re­turn­ing to Dublin. You can reg­is­ter at
